MDL mounting kits (MDL-3KIT, MDL-5KIT and MDL-7KIT)
The internal mounting kits for the Rosahm MDL-Series membranes simplify installation. The kits comprise of a flat plastic external cover plate (CVP), an internal steel retaining plate and a fixing kit including screws and terminal crimps. The MDL membrane and power supply should be purchased separately.
The pre-drillved internal mounting plate is fabricated from 3mm thick 304 grade and kits are available for each of the three membrane sizes. The sets also include two gaskets manufactured from 2mm thick closed cell EPDM.
Installation Guide for Dehumidifying Element
Following these steps ensures proper sealing, safe electrical connection, and reliable performance of the dehumidifying element.
1. Packing & Retainer Plate
- Fit the packing to both sides of the dehumidifying element.
- Place the retainer plate over the assembly.
- Fasten securely around the edge using the four M4 screws provided in the fixing kit.
- Ensure the gaskets are properly seated.
- A tight seal is critical for optimal membrane performance.
2. Terminal Safety
- Check that the membrane terminals are:
- Adequately distanced from the panel surface or insulated from the panel surface
- Properly insulated to prevent accidental contact.
3.. Electrical Connection
- Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminal.
- Connect the black cable to the negative (–) terminal.
⚠️ Warning: Reversing polarity will permanently damage the membrane.

Minimising mechanical damage to the membrane during installation and use
The cover plate included in the kit helps reduce the risk of accidental mechanical damage to the membranes during and after installation. These low-cost covers provice ventilation and are also crucial in ensuring integrity and longevity of the membrane under various conditions. .
Material and Design
The cover plates are manufactured from durable mid-grey PETG plastic, chosen for its resilience and suitability for demanding environments. The material ensures that the covers not only protect the membrane but also withstand environmentsl conditions without compromising their functionality.
Example of an external cover for the MDL-3
The CVP plastic cover plate installs on the outside of the enclosure and the grille provides ventilation for the extracted water vapour. They are the same size as the retaining plate and use the same bolts that secure the membrane in place. The design also allows for seamless integration with other protective measures such as the rain cover as seen below.

Rosahl rain cover
When installing in an outdoor panel, a rain cover and environmental protection sheet (Vapour transmission sheet 24x15cm – Rosahl) should be used. Take care to avoid interference between the fixings and the rain cover mounting screws.
When selecting an optional rain cover, for the MDL-3 and MDL-5 use M-5J1R rain cover. For the MDL-7, use the M-7J1R rain cover.
