Rosahl Solid State Humidity Control
Power Supplies
To achieve the expected performance from your Rosahl membrane dehumidifiers, it is important to use a suitable power supply (PSU). Moisture held within an unused dehumidifying membrane can cause high inrush currents on start up.
Selecting your power supply (PSU)
Moisture within the dehumidifying membrane can cause high inrush currents on start up. The manufacturer recommends a constant current limiting PSU with an output current suitable for the rating of the membrane used. However, these are not always available. Fold-back type PSUs may be suitable provided the output voltage does not fall below 1.8V DC during overload conditions. Hiccup mode power supplies are generally unsuitable unless matched to the membrane inrush current levels.
To simplify selection, below are power supplies that meet the requirements of the membrane without causing nuisance tripping.
Power supply for compact membranes
The VREG2 Series power adapter board connects to a standard USB power source and adapts it to 3V DC suitable for the Rosahl membranes. They are fitted with a USB-C connector on the board. If you already have a 5V DC source the VREG will also accept a pigtail to USB-C adapter.
It delivers 3V DC at up to 3000mA with a fold-back current limiting output and has solder pads for the output connections. It is suitable for use with all PD, RD and RS Series. Also, the M-IJ, M-2J M-3M and M-3J Series and MDL-3 membranes.

Optional VREG barrel mounting
This simple barrel mounting module accepts the VREG2 USB-C power adapter board designed for the PD, RD and RS Series. Also, the M-Series M-IJ, M-2J M-3M and M-3J and MDL-3 membranes.
Switching power supplies
A range of semi-enclosed and open board type switching power supplies (PSUs) suitable for use with Rosahl membranes is available from Westside International. They have an input voltage range of 85 to 264V 50/60Hz and an adjustable 3V DC output. They are RoHS compliant. Select the correct model from the table.
Note: All switching power supplies need additional electrical protection and installation by a suitably qualified person avoid contact or injury from mains voltage electricity (100/200V AC).
