For Correct Usage

Please read this installation guide before installing the dehumidifier. Incorrect use will invalidate the warranty.

 General Safety Warnings

  • This product is intended for indoor use with sealed display or storage enclosures.
  • Installation requires the use of tools and basic technical skills. Not suitable for children or unqualified personnel.
  • DO NOT use silicone-based sealing materialsas they will permanently damage the membrane.
  • Do not touch, damage, or modify the membrane in any way.
  • Only use this product with supplied or approved components. Do not substitute the power adapter or modify the membrane or housing. Do not allow the membrane to become wet.
  • Do not reverse the electrical wiring (polarity), as this will permanently damage the dehumidifier membrane.
  • The VREG2 power adapter includes electronic devices sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Only qualified personnel should remove or service it.
  • Do not use near rust inhibitors, vapour phase corrosion inhibitors or high-density organic gases as they will damage the membrane and reduce performance.

Electrical Safety

  • Power Input: 5V DC via USB-C (minimum 15W)
  • Operating Voltage: 3V DC (regulated via internal adapter)
  • The integrated VREG2 adapter includes fold-back current limiting for safe startup.
  • Use only with a Class 2 power source or LPS (Limited Power Source) as defined in IEC 62368-1.
  • The adapter is not a USB Power Delivery (PD) compliant sink device. Use a standard 5V USB-C power supply if issues occur.
  • To disconnect power, simply remove the USB-C plug from the device or switch off the USB power adapter at the source.

Installation Guide: M-1J1R-SET

This M-1J1R kit provides all the items necessary to install the dehumidifier membrane except for standard hand tools.

Overview

Rosahl dehumidifier membranes are typically installed inside an enclosure; however, for small enclosures, external installation is also possible. The M-1J1R-SET enables external installation by reversing the moisture outflow to dehumidify the enclosure. When used with the VREG2 USB-C power supply module, it offers a convenient, low-power dry storage solution.

Caution: Reversing the polarity of the power to the membrane will permanently damage the membrane.

The membrane kits work with a wide range of sealed enclosures and cabinets to protect sensitive equipment from humidity damage and condensation. They also fit applications like Bambu Lab AMS or other 3D printer filament drying systems, turning them into maintenance free electric dehumidifiers without needing desiccants.

Assembly & Mounting Instructions

  1. Mounting Cover Components

The mounting kit includes a three-part mould set (see image).

  • Inner fixture – holds the membrane and VREG2 USB-C power adapter module.
  • Outer cover – secures components in place.
  • Back plate – optional for extra support on flexible enclosure walls

  1. Marking and Preparing the Cutout
  2. Use the supplied backplate as a template for installing the mould.
  3. Position the backplate at the desired location and mark screw holes. It may be easier to hold it upside down.
  4. Drill one hole first, temporarily bolt the fixture in place, then drill the remaining holes. Use a 3.5 mm drill bit for mounting holes. The fixture’s holes are slightly oversized to allow for alignment.
  5. Mark and cut out the opening for the membrane using for example:
  • Rotary tool with a cutting disk.
  • Step Drill: Drill up to 20 mm diameter (the gasket will cover the hole).
  • Manual method: Drill a ring of small holes and file the edges smooth.
  1. Installing the Components

Caution: Do not touch the black (internal) or grey (external) membrane surfaces. Consider wearing suitable gloves to prevent damage or contamination.

  1. Before inserting the membrane, place the rubber sealing ring into the recess below the membrane. If necessary, use a couple of small drops of superglue. Allow extra drying time before continuing to allow for off gassing.

2.       Install the USB-C power module into the inner fixture. Ensure the cable and socket align with the exit hole, and the clip is engaged.

3.       Connect the power wires to the membrane. The terminals are different sizes to prevent incorrect polarity—do not force or reverse.

  1. Slide the outer cover over the fixture to secure the membrane whist ensuring the USB-C power slot is visible.

  1. Final Mounting
  • Position the assembled unit over the enclosure cutout.
  • Use the original M-1J1R gasket between the installation kit and the enclosure wall and fix in position with the nuts and bolts provided in the M5-PKT kit.
  • If the enclosure wall is flexible, add the back plate inside the enclosure to ensure a secure and airtight seal.

Supplied Parts List

  • M-1J1R membrane and gasket
  • M-1J1R-SET mounting fixture (inner + outer cover)
